CHARTER OF
ST. LUKE’S LEGACY CIRCLE
On this the 11th day of May, 2009, the Vestry of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Durham, North Carolina created and formed the St. Luke’s Legacy Circle.
PURPOSE. The Legacy Circle is formed to gratefully acknowledge those faithful persons who have joined together to create a lasting legacy to enable St. Luke’s Episcopal Church to continue its purpose and mission in the love of God.
MEMBERSHIP. Membership in the Legacy Circle shall be classified as either (1) Founding or (2) Sustaining. A Founding Member is one who, during the enrollment period of May 1, 2009 through October 31, 2010, communicates to the Treasurer of the Church that he/she has provided for St. Luke’s and/or the St. Luke’s Heritage Fund, as a beneficiary of a deferred gift(s), such as a gift through his or her will, living trust, IRA or other retirement plan, insurance policy(ies), charitable gift annuity(ies), charitable trust(s), remainder real estate, pooled income fund(s) or any other estate planning vehicles. A Sustaining Member is one who elects to do so after October 31, 2010.
ANNUAL MEETING. The Gift Planning Committee shall conduct a continuous program to create awareness of estate planning and life income gifts for the church, to encourage membership in the Legacy Circle and shall sponsor an annual meeting during the fall of each year to honor members of the Legacy Circle.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the undersigned members of the Vestry of St. Luke’s, Durham, NC hereby adopt this Charter of the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Legacy Circle, as of the day and year first above written. Adopted by action of the Vestry of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church this 11th day of May, 2009.
