Gift Acceptance Procedures

The Vestry has approved and will maintain guidelines for handling various types of gifts and ensuring confidentiality if desired by the donor.  This policy covers gifts to St. Luke’s of any type, not just deferred gifts or gifts to the Heritage Fund.  The Policy also sets forth procedures for pre-acceptance review of gifts.  Can you imagine a gift offered to St. Luke’s that the church could not accept?  An example could be: a gift of a piece of land that is environmentally tainted, where clean-up would cost more than the price for which the land could be sold.   Please click The Gift Acceptance Policy for complete details or contact the church office.

Policy Regarding Disposition of Bequests and Special Gifts

This Policy deals with the handling of 1) bequests, which in this context means any gift taking effect on the death of the donor or 2) special gifts, which are gifts made at any time and other than those expressly given for the annual operating budget of the Church.  The Policy sets up a procedure for deciding the appropriate disposition of bequests and special gifts, whether designated or undesignated. Donor-Designated Funds Policy

This Policy outlines how gifts may be made to The Heritage Fund for which the donor wants to name a specific purpose, not already included in the areas adopted by the Vestry for distributions from The Heritage Fund.  In order for a gift to retain its separate identity as a Designated Fund, and to be managed, maintained and used for such specific purpose in the future, the gift must be of minimum size and in accord with St. Luke’s Gift Acceptance Policy.  When a gift becomes a Designated Fund, the earnings available for distribution may be used only for the purposes specified by the donor in the designation.  A Designated Fund will be merged with other endowment funds for investment purposes and will be allocated its proportionate share of the overall gains and losses of the Heritage Fund.  Please click on Donor Designated Funds Policy for complete details or contact the church office.
