Outreach at St. Luke's

... for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me. ... Truly I tell you this, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.   (Matthew 25:35-37, 40)

St. Luke's has always considered serving others to be an essential part of who we are as a church.   In following Jesus' words and example, we find fellowship with each other and with those we serve.   Our parish practices Outreach in two complementary ways:   through direct, hands-on involvement of our members, and through financial support of selected programs and agencies both in Durham and throughout the world.   Whether we are hammering nails at a Habitat house, making a casserole for the Soup Kitchen, or participating in one of our Outreach fundraisers, Outreach is an integral part of living our faith at St. Luke's.
