Pastoral Care
"This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you."
John 16:12
- Lay Pastoral Visitors: The members of our Pastoral Care Team, working with our clergy, offer regular support and friendship to parishioners who are homebound, in failing health and living through times of great transition.
- Lay Eucharistic Visitors: Several St. Luke's parishioners are licensed by the Bishop to take communion from the reserve sacrament (already consecrated) to those who are unable to attend Sunday services.
- Healing Ministry: The Healing Ministry team is a group of parishioners who faithfully offer prayers for health in body, mind, and spirit in the small side chapel behind the pulpit during the distribution of communion. They are also available to offer personal prayers throughout the week.
- Meals in time of emergency: In response to the needs of parishioners such as illnesses, meals are arranged and provided by other members of their church family to help during their recovery.
- Prayer Shawl Ministry: Prayer shawls are simple wraps, prayerfully knitted or crocheted by volunteers, blessed by the Rector, and presented to parishioners who are in difficult situations (serious illness, for example). They provide a gentle reminder of God's presence and the support of the church, even in times of crisis. All are welcome to participate in this ministry, whether by making a shawl or by donating yarn, or by offering knitting or crochet instruction. Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month, 10:00 AM in the Kramer Room and last about an hour. It is not necessary to attend meetings to participate .
