Hospitality
We strive to make St. Luke's a welcoming place for newcomers and long-time parishioners alike. These ministries play an important part in fostering our strong sense of community.
- Coffee Hour: This is a time of fellowship immediately after the 8:00 a.m and 10:30 a.m. services in the Sprague Room. Our director of hospitality Carol Joyner arrives before the services to prepare and set up the coffee area. Parish families sign up to serve as coffee hour hosts on a rotating basis.
- Supper Groups: Eat good food and enjoy lively conversation with other St. Luke's parishioners. Groups are formed early each spring consisting of 8-12 people. Newcomers are welcome to participate at any time. The groups meet monthly and rotate hosting the supper in the homes of each member. This is an excellent way to really get to know your fellow St. Lukers.
- Receptions and Covered Dish Meals: This dedicated group organizes our receptions and covered dish meals for some of our major parish events. Anyone is welcome to join in on the fun of preparing these for special events.
- Newcomer Committee: The Newcomer Committee welcomes newcomers by responding to the Visitor's Cards filled out with a personal note and copies of the newsletter and other St. Luke's information. They also coordinate welcome coffees for all who consider themselves newcomers and wish to learn more about the ministry of St. Luke's
- Greeters and Ushers: They are the usually the first people you see on Sunday morning. Greeters welcome newcomers and parishioners, and provide directions and answer questions. Ushers hand out Sunday bulletins, assist people in finding seats, and guide the flow of people at communion.
