A Visitor from South Sudan

On June 30, we had a visitor from Bishop Gwynne College in what was then southern Sudan, but as of July 9 became the new country of South Sudan. The Reverend Canon Trevor Stubbs is a consultant at Bishop Gwynne College, where our good friend Father Joseph Taban Lasuba serves as the school's Principal. Canon Stubbs relayed a hearty welcome from Father Joseph, along with a quick update on events on both sides of what became the new international border. He also reported on the exciting progress at Bishop Gwynne college, which is training pastors to serve the church throughout South Sudan.
Trevor left with us contact information both for himself and for Father Joseph. To make the spam bots do at least a little work, I'll reformat these email addresses with "-AT-" in place of the '@' sign. Just substitute the '@' sign back in when you type the address into your email client.

Trevor said that anyone interested in being added to the Diocese of Salisbury (England)'s Sudan-Link Prayer Network could email him with a request to be added to the list. This network maintains a list of specific concerns for which prayers are requested, both in Sudan and in South Sudan.
St. Luke's has already made a donation to Bishop Gwynne College from our 2011 Outreach funds. If you're interested in making a personal donation, there's more information on their current needs, as well as instructions on how to make a donation, on this page.
