Spring Fling . . . Books, Books and More Books
Bob and Ginny Atwell, cochairs of this year's Spring Fling said: "The response from volunteers this year was excellent. That made the event go very smoothly. This year we also added a Bake Sale and games for children."
There was a large number of donated items from church members and friends.
There are several benefis of the Spring Fling. It's not just about the money.
- First, it helps all of us reduce the clutter in our homes. Second, the donated items are purchased at very reasonable prices by people who really need them. Third, it raises money for our Outreach Programs. This year the proceeds were more than double what we raised a year ago, about $2,500. Fourth, any leftover items are donated to area charities. This year it was the Friends of the Library and the Salvation Army. They in turn, will sell the remaining items and raise money for their causes.
- Additionally, it exposes St. Luke's to the community. It not only creates good will, but also provides a welcoming place for people to come if they want spiritual guidance.
We'd like to thank everyone for their donations, time and talent that made this year's Spring Fling so successful.
