Report from two Congregants on the Gulf Oil Spill

This was the first of a five week series to reflect on a season of worship based on our creation.  Last week we began with a discussion about the Gulf Oil Spill by two of our congregants who work for the government and who performed some work in the Gulf on these important issues - Kelly Rimer-Suirles and Brian Gullett.  Both began this educational program last week by discussing their experiences in the Gulf these past few months, looking at the recovery efforts in the Gulf region.  Pictures were provided and Kelly provided some interesting background on her work and Brian discussed his personal "invention" on how he obtained information in the air (from a balloon) to help define what was contained in the air above them.  This series will continue every Monday night through November 15th and different issues will be discussed - this next week we will discuss water: potable water, watershheds, seal level rise and drought.  Sign up in the Kramer Room and learn more about environmental issues around us.
