The Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina
“A diocese is a community of communities, a missionary network of shared ministry that connects congregations and clergy to each other, to the wider Church nationally and globally to the wider world.” - The Rt. Rev. Michael B. Curry, 11th Bishop of North Carolina
St. Luke's belongs to the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina which is part of The Episcopal Church. Episcopal churches as well as other “Anglicans” around the world trace their historic roots to the Church of England. Although we are part of a global network, we are under the authority of a smaller region, a “diocese,” and led by our “bishop.” Our clergy and lay leaders participate actively in diocesan ministries and governance, and our budget provides financial support. We benefit from the backing and stability of the wider church. We are also linked to ministries beyond the range of our local congregation: from outreach to youth and college students to international partnerships in Africa and Latin America to collaborative efforts between congregations and dioceses.

The diocese provides a bulletin Around the Diocese with information about events coming up in the next month or two. It also publishes a quarterly magazine The North Carolina Disciple.
